The Apex Mountain area is a fine place for exploring – hiking in summer and backcountry touring in winter. To be clear, the Apex Ski Resort is actually on Beaconsfield Mountain (just to the north of Apex Mountain). Apex Mountain features an enjoyable 1.5km long ridge-walk between two peaks of similar height.

Winter Access:

Apex Mountain makes for a relatively easy ski touring destination. The mountain resort welcomes backcountry touring which is different than some of the other resorts in the Okanagan. For a small fee, a ‘once up’ lift ticket can be purchased. This gets you up the quad chair to the top of Beaconsfield Mt. From there, you can ski down then skin up to Apex Mountain. Alternatively you had go at it for free by parking at the resort upper parking lot and skiing around Beaconsfield Mt to the west before making your way up Apex Mountain.

Summer Access:

Park at either the top or bottom parking lot at the resort. Either head up Beaconsfield Mountain first (hike up ski runs) or bypass it and head straight for Apex Mountain.

Unique Family Activity

Every winter the Apex Mountain Resort creates a forest skating loop which is a fantastic family outing (of course there is also tubing and skiing):
