Throughout the 1900s, fire lookout towers were an integral part of a fire-fighting network across the country. Many were abandoned after adoption of newer technologies but some are still active today!

These towers are only placed on high peaks with 360 visibility, making them very interesting locations. Visiting the abandoned structures or what remains usually makes for an amazing adventure.
