The old railway from Slocan to almost South Slocan is gone and in its place is a well maintained trail for cycling, walking or skiing. The whole trail is 50km which is not difficult to pull off in a half day for a bunch of adults. With various tangents, cafes, and tourism along the way, it’s easy to make a whole day of it.
For families with kids there is the option of doing a section of trail as there are several access points along the way from Hwy 6. When we were camping nearby, we did a 15km chunk from Lemon Creek to Winlaw which proved to be an excellent little section to give us an appreciation for the trail. This area has history from WWII and there are info markers along the way.
