Yellow Creek Mine is for sure an obscure adventure and would not be desirable for most travelers to Vancouver Island. Nevertheless, for the explorer interested in a unique experience, the journey near Port Alberni is not a difficult one.
What remains and is accessible of the “mine” is actually a 2km wide tunnel that provided access to a number of mine adits in the area. At the end of the tunnel it used to be possible to climb up a wooden ladder to a hole in the roof but this has since collapsed.
